*****A Short Story from the Wedding Pact series*****
Blair Hansen-Lowry never thought that marriage would be enough to ensure a happily ever after—her career as a divorce attorney made sure of that. But she never expected her old insecurities to resurface only a few short months after she and Garrett said “I do.” When Garrett receives an irresistible offer that could pull them apart, Blair becomes convinced it’s only a matter of time before Garrett realizes he’s made a terrible mistake.
Garrett Lowry knew what he was getting into when he married a strong, stubborn woman with a tendency to keep people at arm’s length—even him. He’s fully committed to her nonetheless, and will do what it takes to build a life together. But the harder Garrett tries to prove himself, the more distant Blair seems to grow. When, in the midst of an argument, she issues a particularly deep-stinging barb, he begins to wonder if Blair might actually be happier without him.
It all comes to a head on Valentine’s Day when Blair and Garrett must confront their fear that love may not be enough. These two have never celebrated Valentine’s Day the traditional way, but this year it could be the holiday that will determine their future. Will they fight for Cupid’s arrows or get mired in lovers’ quarrels?

The Valentine The Wedding Pact #4 edition by Denise Grover Swank Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
This is a cute short story that involves the gang from The Wedding Pact series. It gives a little bit of extra insight and information (kind of like an epilogue) into the romance between Blair and Garrett. Blair is hard to love and she is second-guessing Garrett's love for her. She is sure that he wants to call it quits because who could love her? She's grumpy, stubborn, and is stubborn. However, she met her match with Garrett though and she has to come to terms with the fact that the ice on her heart is thawing. Blair and Garrett are one of my favorites in this series. I see a lot of similar things in myself as I do in Blair. Garrett is irresistible and he will do whatever it takes to show Blair that he loves her and is never leaving her.
I bought the first book in the Wedding Pack series because it was free and I immediately fell in love with this characters. I was actually mad at myself when I found out this book had been released a month late. I couldn't wait to pick it up and catch up on these fun ladies.
This book follows Blair as she tries to learn to balance being married to having a career. I love that Blair isn't your typical "looking for love" heroine. In fact, she spends most of her story doubling the existence of love. She loves her husband but has trouble giving herself over to that love completely. It is only when thing seam to be at their worst that she learns how powerful love can be.
I also enjoy that fact that they celebrate an Anti-Valentines Day. I've never been a big fan of that holiday so it was fun to see two characters who didn't get wrapped up in everything about the day. They know that showing they care for each other shouldn't be a once a year thing. To me, pizza and a horror movie sound like a great way to celebrate the evening.
I only have two complaints about The Valentine. One, I would have loved to spend a bit more time with the other ladies from the series. And two, it wasn't long enough.
I love this!
I'm so anti-Valentine Day just like Blair, but many say its because I never had a special person for V-day. But really Blair's reasons are almost close to mine.
I know I probably need to read more of this series since I want to know what happens with Garrett's sister, I'll do some more investigation on that.
I think both Blair and Garrett knows they need to spend more quality time and really cherish one another. I know that with the job that Blair has and Garrett's, that it leads to Blair thinking that happily ever after doesn't truly exist.
This story is just too short. Blair was always my least favorite of the women, because she is just so hard on everyone -- even the people she loves. She does it again here, by treating Garrett badly just because she feels insecure. She doesn't deserve him, but he puts up with her anyway -- she is lucky he does, because most men would kick her to the curb.
I also didn't like that a new story for Kelsey was introduced, and then just dropped. There is no mention of a follow-up book for her, so why introduce her story? That is just annoying.
The Valentine is by Denise Grover Swank. It is the fourth book in the Wedding Pact series. This series centers around three young girls who at the age of nine made a pact that they would get married before they were thirty and they would be each other’s maids of honor. This was accompanied by a curse from a fortune teller that they would have a disaster at their wedding and not marry the groom they intended but would marry their true love instead. This had happened to the girls and all were happily married now, or were they? This book deals with Blair and her inability to truly accept that Garrett loved her and would never leave her. She fully expected him to leave and so set out to drive him away. Although this is a short novella, it is good and packed with details and emotions. It leaves you wanting more about Blair and Garrett.
This short story was such a pleasure to read! There's a weight to it that cannot be ignored, yet it ends on such a warm and wonderful feeling. Only Denise Grover Swank can take you on a roller coaster of emotions in such a short time! At one point I was shocked by a part of the story that I know had to be very difficult for Denise to write on a personal level. I truly felt the panic that Blair felt. I was shocked. Denise does a great job in laying down a future plot for Kelsey, Garrett's sister. I also want to know more about Melissa. She's always been there for Blair, yet we know so little about her. She needs her own story!! All-in-all this was a very quick and enjoyable read! I give it a solid 4.5, rounded up to a 5 in the star system.
